The Cost of Believing the Lie

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." - John 10:10

When you choose to live the lies that either you or someone else had told you, there is a sever cost. You weren’t created to shrink back, to second-guess, or to walk through life feeling like a fraud. But how many times have you told yourself, I’m not really good enough. I don’t belong here. Someone else is more qualified than I am. You may not even say it out loud, but the fear is there, lurking beneath the surface, keeping you from stepping fully into who God created you to be.

Imposter syndrome doesn’t just make you feel small, it keeps you small. When you live in fear of being exposed as "not enough," you never step into your true identity. You settle. You hide. You keep parts of yourself locked away because you’re afraid that if people saw the real you, they wouldn’t approve. And when that happens, your calling is never realized. You stay on the sidelines of what God is trying to do in your life, convincing yourself that you’re not the one for the job.

But it doesn’t stop there. Your gifts—everything God has placed inside of you—stay dormant. Instead of using what He’s given you to make an impact, you downplay your abilities, second-guess your worth, and never operate at the level He designed you for. And because of that, the influence you were meant to have is minimized. The people you were meant to reach, the lives you were meant to touch, the difference you were supposed to make, it all gets smaller. Not because you weren’t capable, but because you believed the lie that you weren’t enough.

But Jesus didn’t come so you could live in fear. He came so you could live in abundance. Not in hiding. Not in self-doubt. Not in hesitation. He created you to step forward in confidence, knowing that your identity isn’t based on feelings, opinions, or qualifications; it’s based on Him.

What if today, you stopped letting fear have control? What if you finally believed that you are who God says you are? Because when you do, your identity is actualized, your calling is realized, your gifts are maximized, and your impact is multiplied. You weren’t meant to play small. You were meant to step fully into the life God has for you.

Sometimes I’ll start thinking it’s over now. I messed up. I’ve made too many mistakes. Gods going to move on now to someone who deserves it more. But He doesn’t do that. He keeps on loving me and giving more and more. I don’t know about playing small but this made me think of focusing on preparation. It’s kind of like if I believe for real then it is always followed up by action. So if I believe He is going to do big things in my life then I should be preparing myself to be able to handle it. So far I’ve asked God to help me that. Preparing me for the next day or night for all that He has set out for me to do. On a side note I really like that song we have been singing at church. If the highest place I reach is at your feet. Then I’ve seen it all. Your love has changed my life. I’m fully satisfied. God you are my EVERYTHING
