Healthy and Holy Habits
"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God." – Matthew 4:4
Have you ever thought about what you’re really putting into your soul? What you feed yourself spiritually determines how you grow. And the truth is, a lot of people are starving themselves spiritually without even realizing it.
I read something recently that hit me hard. Out of the people who say they are Christians, only 20% actually read their Bible. And if that wasn’t enough, people who say they have a relationship with Jesus only attend church about once a month. No wonder so many feel distant from God. Fortune cookie spirituality isn’t going to get you through the battles you are facing.
I was at a gas station not too long ago and saw this guy with a decked-out Escalade. It was blacked out with shiny 22s. He’s filling his vehicle with premium gas because that’s what a Cadillac needs to run smoothly. But while he’s putting the best of the best in his car, he’s sitting there eating a honey bun and drinking a Coca-Cola. Now, there’s nothing wrong with Honey Buns and Coca-Cola. But I couldn’t help but notice the contradiction. He’s giving his vehicle premium fuel while feeding his own body the worst of the worst.
This isn’t about nutrition. It’s about spiritual cleanliness. It’s about caring more about what you’re putting into your soul than what you’re putting into anything else. You wouldn’t fill a luxury car with cheap gas. So why would you fill your heart and mind with cheap, empty, or harmful things?
If you don’t like the output of your life, you have to change the input. What are you filling the gap with? Are you feeding your soul with truth, or just getting by on whatever feels good at the moment?
Start making different choices today. Feed yourself with God’s Word. Spend time with Him daily. Build healthy and holy habits that will help you become who He’s calling you to be. You can’t grow if you’re not filling yourself with what truly gives life.

This one sounds familiar… never have been a fan of honey buns. It is easy however for me to get into a mechanical routine. I forget often that God is ever present. That we are in an active relationship. I find God in the present moment. I forget the scripture. It says you search diligently the scriptures for me. Why don’t you just ask me? I like that. It reminds me that it isn’t some history lesson or story about God. It is God.
