Flip the Frame

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding." – Proverbs 3:5

Sin always feels good in the moment. But the problem is, it’s never enough. The pleasure wears off, and you find yourself chasing after something new, something that can give you that next high. And before you know it, you’re stuck in a cycle. Your triggers lead to unhealthy tendencies, and those tendencies set you on a trajectory that ends in the same pain, frustration, and emptiness.

It’s simple. If you keep doing what you’re doing, you’re going to keep getting what you’re getting. The outcome will never change unless something in your life changes. And here’s the truth. When nothing changes… nothing changes.

If you want to break free from that cycle, you have to change how you see things. You have to change your perspective. It’s time to flip the frame. Instead of looking at your life through the lens of your own desires, pain, or struggles, you have to start seeing it through the lens of God’s truth.

Flipping the frame means making the decision to trust God, even when it doesn’t feel good. It means recognizing that God is good, even when your circumstances aren’t. Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” That’s a call to let go of your need to control everything and allow God to guide you.

You can’t always control what happens to you. But you can control how you respond. And the best response you can have is surrender. Trusting God means letting go of your way and choosing His way. It means choosing to fill the gap with His truth instead of temporary fixes that never last.

The moment you flip the frame, everything begins to change. Will you choose to see your life through God’s eyes? Because when you do, you’ll finally be able to walk in the freedom He has for you.

I heard a while back that the main characteristic of scientific discovery is that we consistently find that everything we think we know always turns out to be wrong. We learn something greater than what we knew before but even that eventually will be proven to be insufficient in light of some new discovery. When looking at myself I find this to an even greater extent. I thought I knew exactly what was wrong with me and I wrote it all down too. But when God showed up and shined His light on me I was very wrong. I pray every day for wisdom and truth. For understanding and insight. Some days, especially when I’m tired, the best I can do is be aware that now is not a good time to think. lol. For me right now is a time of trusting. Staying firm in my faith. Thank you Pastor Ed.
