A Way Out
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid." – John 14:27
In what way have you been wounded so badly that there is not a moment it does not cross your mind? People say, “Just forgive and forget,” but they have no idea what they are talking about. Forgetting is not an option. You did not ask for this. You did not choose it. It was done to you.
Maybe the memories hit you like a wave out of nowhere. A smell, a sound, or a familiar place pulls you right back into the pain. The feelings rush in before you even have time to process them. If you are not careful, those emotions will lead you down the same path they always do. A path of anxiety, anger, depression, or self-destruction. But what if those moments could lead to freedom instead?
God may not erase the memories, but he can rewire the way your mind responds to them. He can break the patterns that have kept you stuck. That destructive cycle does not have to control you anymore. The shackles have to come off. The tendencies that have defined you for so long do not have to be your reality any longer.
Maybe you have been using something to cope. An addiction, a habit, a distraction that gives you temporary relief but leaves you empty. That high will not fix your pain. That habit will not erase the past. It is all escapism, and you know it. It is time to confront what you have been running from. It is time to reject the lies that have kept you in chains.
The world offers ways to numb the pain, but God offers something the world cannot give. His peace. A peace that does not require you to forget what happened but allows you to live free from its control. A peace that is stronger than your emotions. A peace that will not break when the memories return.
You are tired of being tired. You are sick of being sick. You do not have to live in the cycle anymore. God is offering you a way out. Walk in it.
