Winning the Battle Within

"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places." - Ephesians 6:12

There’s no doubt we face a real enemy. The devil isn’t out to inconvenience you, he’s out to destroy you. His goal is to nullify your impact, frustrate your purpose, and stop you from living out the plans God has for your life. But while we often think of spiritual battles as external, the truth is that some of the hardest fights are the ones within ourselves.

If you’re honest, you might admit that you can be your own worst enemy. The things you say to yourself in your mind—the doubts, the criticisms, the insecurities—are often harsher than anything anyone else says to you. You replay mistakes, question your worth, and convince yourself that you’re not good enough. Sometimes, it feels like you’re doing more damage to yourself than the devil ever could.

This internal battle isn’t about self-confidence, as we said a couple of days ago, it is about God-confidence. The world will tell you to “fake it till you make it,” but what happens when you feel fake and don’t think you’re going to make it? Pretending isn’t the answer. Believing what God says about you is.

God has chosen you, appointed you, and destined you for something greater. He doesn’t see you as you see yourself in your most critical moments. He sees the masterpiece He created. The battle within can feel overwhelming, but the way forward is to trust in what God believes about you.

When the doubts creep in, remind yourself that you are not fighting this battle alone. God is with you, equipping you with the strength and courage to overcome not just the external attacks but the internal ones too. The more you root yourself in His truth, the less power those self-critical voices will have.

You were created for a purpose. You have influence, impact, and value. Not because of anything you’ve done, but because God says so. Stop faking it and start trusting Him. The battle within doesn’t define you, God does. And with Him, you can overcome.

Lord knows I needed to hear this today. My self doubt and then demons in my head make me want to believe that I am worthless. But as I read this tears flow from my eyes as I am a child of God and he knows my worth and I should too. Lord you know my heart and my needs. In you I trust in everything I say and do. All Glory to you in Jesus mighty name. Amen
