The Story’s Not Over

"The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands." - Psalm 138:8

Have you ever been left on a cliffhanger? Maybe you’re watching a show, and just as things reach the most intense moment, it ends. You can’t help but peek at the next episode just to make sure the character makes it.

My wife and I were watching Madam Secretary, and in season 4, the main character, Elizabeth McCord, is caught in an attack. For a moment, it looks like she might not survive. But then I remembered, her face is in the logo. The show’s named after her. She’s not dying in season 4 because I already know she makes it to season 6 as president.

David had his own “season 4” moment when he faced Goliath. To everyone else, it looked like this could be the end. A young shepherd boy against a massive, battle-hardened giant? No way he was going to make it. But David knew something they didn’t. God had already anointed him to be king. His story wasn’t going to end in the valley with Goliath because God had a greater purpose for him: a palace, a throne, and a kingdom.

David walked onto that battlefield with confidence, not because of his skills, but because of God’s promise. He knew that this battle was just a stop on the way to the destiny God had prepared for him. Goliath might have been big, but David’s faith in God was bigger. He didn’t just believe in victory. He believed that God’s plan for his life was unshakable.

What about you? Maybe you’re in your own “season 4” right now. The challenges feel overwhelming, and you’re not sure how you’re going to make it. But remember, if God has called you, He will carry you. Your story doesn’t end here because He’s already written the next chapter.

Walk in the confidence that comes from knowing you’re chosen by God. Whatever giants you face, they’re just a stop on the way to the destiny He’s prepared for you. Trust that the God who called you will fulfill His purpose for you. Your story’s not over. There’s more to come, and with Him, you will prevail.

Thank you Pastor Ed. I like that analogy. Sometimes it does feel like the final chapter for me.
