Becoming Matters More
"And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." – Philippians 1:6
We live in a world obsessed with speed. Fast results, quick wins, and overnight success seem to be what everyone’s after. And if we’re not careful, that same mindset can sneak into our walk with God. We start measuring our spiritual growth by how quickly we get to the next level or how fast we overcome a struggle. But God doesn’t see it that way.
He cares far more about who you are becoming than how fast you are arriving. He is not interested in rushing you into a role or status if your heart isn’t ready for it. What matters most to God is your transformation, not your timeline. He’s more concerned with the strength of your foundation than the speed of your elevation.
Some of the most important work God does in us happens slowly. Quiet mornings of faithfulness. Private moments of conviction. Painful seasons of pruning. These don’t always look impressive to the outside world, but they are the places where God shapes your character. You might feel like things are moving slowly right now, but that doesn’t mean you’re stuck. It might just mean you’re becoming.
Philippians 1:6 reminds us that He who started the good work will finish it. That means you can trust the process even when it’s taking longer than you hoped. Your progress is not measured by how fast you arrive, but by your willingness to keep showing up, keep surrendering, and keep letting God shape you.
So take the pressure off. You don’t have to rush what God is doing. He’s not after a faster version of you. He’s after the real, refined, surrendered version of you. The one who trusts Him in every step, no matter how long the journey takes.
Let go of the need to arrive quickly. And lean into the daily, faithful work of becoming the person He’s called you to be. That’s where the real victory is found.

Thank you Pastor Ed. Sometimes it does appear that there is a pause. During those times I try to remember that’s usually when God is up to something I can’t see. I think about all the things God has already done in my life. How far I’ve come. My beautiful children He has kept safe and helped them grow. This is also where fear usually tries to creep its way in too. So I’m mindful today to remember the promises of God and throw out all the reasons why that fear may be valid from my mind. Because with God anything is possible and He has never failed me. Not even once.
