Obedience Always Prepares the Way
"By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance" - Hebrews 11:8
Obedience rarely feels easy. Especially when God calls you to step into something without giving you the full picture. But there is a truth you cannot ignore. Obedience always sets the stage for God to move in ways you could never orchestrate on your own.
Think about the times God asked you to do something that made little sense. Maybe it was letting go of control in a situation you deeply cared about. Maybe it was saying yes to something you didn’t feel ready for. Or maybe it was staying put when everything in you wanted to run. That moment of obedience, even if it felt small, was preparing the way for something bigger.
You don’t need to see the finish line to take the first step. When you obey God, you are declaring that His voice is worth more than your comfort. You are saying His plans are better than your own timing or logic. And that kind of trust? It clears the path for blessing, for breakthrough, and for deeper intimacy with Him.
Many people want the result without the surrender. They want the promise without the process. But God works differently. He often calls you to obey before you see the blessing. He sets things in motion once you move your feet. That step of faith becomes the doorway to His provision, His presence, and His power.
If you are standing at a crossroads today, unsure if you should step forward, let this be your reminder. God may not show you the entire map, but He will meet you on the road. Your obedience is not a wasted risk. It is a spiritual invitation for God to do what only He can do. Take the step. He is already preparing the way ahead.

The recent devotionals regarding trust, faith and obedience led me to reach out to a family member in an attempt at reconciliation. Unfortunately, my overture was met with silence on the other end. Even though the estrangement has been painful, I still believe that God is walking with me and I believe that he led me to attempt a conversation, regardless of where it may lead.
Amen!!! Thank you Pastor Ed!!!!
Amen and Amen!
Kim I hear you loud and clear. I have had some situations like this and I am glad you are going through it standing firm with your faith. I remember having those same feelings but at the same time having a desire to experience more of a reconciliation. I was not met with that then either. What I did gain was something far more valuable and even having years gone by now I can actually see it more clearly today. I’m happy for you because you too will experience this wonderful gift. Also this reading reminded me of the many times I met a man on the road i did not know… and that man was God. One of the coolest things for me is how many times I have seen the word of God be a very literal thing that happens word for word in reality right in front of my face. We are never alone.
