The Wrong Side
“Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born.” (Revelation 12:3-4)
We have spent the last couple days talking about the masked man, Satan. Satan will come to us not only in the end times, but now, with dangerous lies in attempt to throw us off the path Christ has for us. Satan does not come to earth appearing as the devil so many movies and pieces of artwork has portrayed him to be.
If he did, how much easier would it be to know that he had bad intentions for us? Revelation 12:3 says, “Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads...” Then why does this verse describe Satan exactly as Hollywood depicts him... red dragon and horns? The verse is not talking about Satan, but the seven empires that sought to extinguish the nation of Israel.
Remember, Jesus is the Son of the nation of Israel. Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Grecians, Romans and the seventh being the world government that will form under the leadership of the anti-Christ. These are what the seven heads Scripture is talking about. And we know this dragon will be defeated. This tells us what we already know: Jesus wins.
But if we already know Jesus wins, what else is there to take from this passage? These verses tell us more. Not only does Jesus win, but those who oppose Jesus lose. They are defeated, because they are on the wrong side. And so will you be defeated if you are on the wrong side. What we can learn from this today is that we should not only be on the right side when Jesus comes back, but everyday until then.
Are you on the right side everyday? Do you encourage those around you to do things that the Bible opposes? Or do you say, “oh it’s not that big of a deal.” or “It’s just one time”? Be careful, for we see what happens to those on the wrong side. There is a cost. There is a punishment. Do not find yourself on the wrong side, but instead always be with Jesus. And choose His side daily.
