Faithful in the Small Things
"One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much." - Luke 16:10
Everybody wants to step into the big dream. Everyone wants to see the promise fulfilled, the doors open, and the success unfold. But before God gives you more, He looks at what you’re doing with what you have now.
Joseph had a dream of leadership, of influence, and of greatness, but before he could ever step into it, he had to prove his faithfulness in the small things. He was sold as a slave, yet he worked with excellence in Potiphar’s house. He was thrown into prison, yet he didn’t waste his time in bitterness. He served faithfully, interpreting dreams and leading with integrity. And when the moment finally came for him to stand before Pharaoh, he was ready, not because he chased after power, but because he was faithful when no one was watching.
Joseph had the opportunity to take shortcuts. He could have slept with Potiphar’s wife and thought, who would even find out? But he didn’t. He knew that even in the small things, integrity mattered. He was entrusted with responsibility, and he honored it. And because of that, God entrusted him with more.
God operates the same way with you. You may have a dream in your heart, but before He brings you to the big stage, He’s watching what you do in the small places. Are you faithful in the job you don’t love? Do you show up and give your best even when no one notices? Are you trustworthy with what He’s placed in your hands right now, or are you too busy waiting for something bigger?
If you can’t be trusted with little, you won’t be trusted with more. God is testing your faithfulness now, in the unseen moments, in the small responsibilities, in the everyday choices that don’t seem to matter. Because what you do with little determines what He can give you next.
So be faithful now. Honor God in the small things. Serve well where you are. Walk in integrity when no one is watching. Because when you prove faithful in the little, God is the One who will elevate you to greater.

For me God usually takes the first step. He gives and then it’s up to me to show my gratitude. Read His word. Help others. Really ask for help in helping others. Ask Him to help me with my selfishness etc. and then He abundantly gives even more. My first thought when reading this was the verse about whatever measuring stick you use it will also be used on you. It seems like when I take a wholesome approach to things paying attention to every area that He also rewards in every area and of course because of who He is it is abundantly more than i could ever think of. I’m like a monkey trying to write a novel sometimes and when I hit the right key He is good to make sure I know it was the right key. Thank you Pastor Ed. Looking forward to church today. Finally back home.
