Stop Hiding Behind Fear
"For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control." - 2 Timothy 1:7
Have you ever held back from stepping into something because of fear? Maybe you were afraid of failing, disappointing others, or not living up to expectations. Instead of taking the chance, you played it safe. You recommended someone else, procrastinated, or talked yourself out of it. Not because you didn’t care, but because fear convinced you that stepping forward was too risky.
This kind of response can look like humility on the surface. You tell yourself, I’m just letting someone else have the opportunity, but deep down, it’s fear in disguise. Fear whispers, What if you fail? What if you’re not good enough? And so, you step back, self-sabotage, or avoid the responsibility altogether.
But God hasn’t called you to live in fear. He hasn’t given you a spirit of timidity or hesitation. He’s given you a spirit of power. That means you don’t have to hide behind false humility or opt-out to protect yourself. You’ve been equipped and empowered to step into what He’s calling you to do.
When you recommend someone else out of fear, you’re not just minimizing disappointment, you’re minimizing the purpose God has placed in you. You’re playing small in a role He’s designed specifically for you. And when you procrastinate or opt-out, you rob yourself of the opportunity to see what He can do through you.
Ask yourself: Am I stepping back because I don’t feel good enough? Am I afraid of failing? If so, it’s time to let go of that fear. God has called you to walk boldly in the purpose He’s prepared for you. You don’t have to have all the answers or be perfect to move forward. You just need to trust Him and take the step.
Today, stop hiding behind fear. Step out in faith, knowing that God is with you, equipping you, and guiding you. You don’t need to pass the opportunity to someone else or hold back out of fear of failure. God has called you for this moment. Trust Him and move forward with courage.

Fear has been an unwelcome companion for as long a I can remember. Very destructive. I had to do a lot of writing initially to start this process of getting through it. I brought all my issues to a God I didn’t know but just had to believe He was there. The system was designed for me to fail. I surrendered. Then He showed up. Instead of conforming to the system now with God the system conforms to me. I need only do what I think He wants me to and constantly seek Him. Fear is now just an option. Thanks to God.
