A Bold Faith

“Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.” - Daniel 6:10

Daniel 6 tells the famous story of “Daniel In The Lions Den.” Most believers know the story. Many nonbelievers are even familiar with it! But what if this story never happened? Think about the number of people who have been motivated, inspired, or challenged in their faith because of the example of Daniel and his great faith?

Daniel, despite the threat of being thrown into the lion's den, continued to pray to God. He knew the consequences, and he knew that it ultimately would lead to his death. The crazy thing is that Daniel could have kept praying quietly. He could have prayed in private; he could have prayed in his head, and no one would ever know.

They could not have caught him, and as a result, not thrown him in the lion's den had he just prayed in private or prayed to himself. But then we would not have this amazing story! This story is famous because Daniel displayed a BOLD FAITH.

Verse 10 says, “Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.”

He learned of the law, and he went home where he OPENED THE WINDOW, got on his knees, and prayed THREE TIMES A DAY. That sounds pretty bold, doesn’t it? It is that type of faith that God honored when Daniel was thrown into the den, and as a result, God spared his life.

If you are a believer, are you living in bold faith? Thankfully, most of us are not threatened with a life or death scenario when it comes to our faith. But that does not mean we do not have times where God is testing how bold we will be in our representation of Him. This story is as significant as it is, not just because Daniel had faith in God, but because of how bold he was in showing it.

Is God challenging you to show your faith boldly? What could you do to show others the bold faith you have in a Savior who died for you?
