A Dream Realized
“Now Joseph was the governor of the land, the person who sold grain to all its people. So when Joseph’s brothers arrived, they bowed down to him with their faces to the ground.” - Genesis 42:6
Has God given you a dream? There is a saying, “If you don’t get a little nervous telling people your dreams, they aren’t big enough.” So many people dumb down their dreams to make other people comfortable. They know if they tell them the truth, they will get negative feedback.
“That isn’t going to happen to you.” “You aren’t that special.” “What makes you think you, of all people, can do that?” These are just a few of the phrases people will use to make you feel insignificant, as if God doesn’t have a special plan for you. We see in Genesis just how special a dream can be, especially when it is realized.
In Genesis 37, Joseph tells his brothers, “Listen to this dream I had: We were binding sheaves of grain out in the field when suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it.”
At the time, this dream sounds ridiculous. Joseph, the youngest brother, tells his older brothers of a dream in which they would all bow down to him. It sounded crazy until it happened.
We see in Genesis 42:6, “Now Joseph was the governor of the land, the person who sold grain to all its people. So when Joseph’s brothers arrived, they bowed down to him with their faces to the ground.”
What a moment this must have been for Joseph, the thing that tipped his brothers off and led to him being put in a ditch was the exact start of the realization of his dream.
When God gives you a dream, it is meant to be realized. Others might hate on it. They might try to discourage you in pursuit of it. They might even become jealous. But when you commit to being obedient to God, no one can stop you from the dreams God sets before you. If you have a dream, chase it. A dream from God is a dream that will one day be realized, no matter how it looks right now.
