The Forgotten God
“The heart is free where the Spirit of the Lord is. The Lord is the Spirit.” - 2 Corinthians 3:17
Over the last two days, we have talked about what rests in our hands, and how we do not always realize the value of what is in them. If you are a believer in Christ, you have been given the Holy Spirit, who now lives inside of you, and you have His power in your hands.
The worth and value of the Holy Spirit in our lives are severely underestimated. As the great Francis Chan would say, the Holy Spirit is the forgotten God. I grew up in environments where I didn’t hear a whole lot about the Holy Spirit. A.W. Tozer would say if the Holy Spirit was removed from church today, 95% of people wouldn’t even know the Holy Spirit was gone.
But the truth is, as believers, the Holy Spirit is inside of us. And He does a great work! He is what gives us clarity about God’s vision for our lives. He shows us the way in which He wants us to walk. He helps us determine right and wrong. The Holy Spirit will pierce our consciousness at times to lead us in a certain direction.
And this is just the tip of the iceberg! Over the next few days, we are going to look at the Holy Spirit and the specific role He plays in the Holy Trinity. He is far too often forgotten. We know God the Father, the One who created us. We know Jesus Christ, the One who came to earth to die for us. But there is a third part to the Holy TRINITY.
God gave us the Holy Spirit so that He would be inside of us at all times. We have talked about the power you have access to through prayer. But it is not just prayer that gives us a source of power; there is the Holy Spirit inside of you. Let’s get to know more about this Spirit living within you!
