Are You Listening?

“Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what He is saying to the churches.” - Revelation 2:29

When is the last time God spoke to you? If you ask believers this question, you are bound to get many different answers. Some might say, “Pastor, He spoke to me in my quiet time this morning.” For others, they might say it has been days, weeks, months, or years since they have heard from God.

And then you might get the saddest answer of all…There are some believers who say they have never heard from God. I understand that everyone’s journey is a little different. But I just have one question, are you listening?

Proverbs 2:1-5 says, “My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God.”

When you seek Him, He will make Himself known to you! Now, there might be times when God goes silent. If He does, He certainly has His reasons. But God does not go silent forever. When you seek Him, you CAN and WILL find Him. If you aren’t, then are you listening?

Are you listening and trying to hear His voice? Or are you doing all the talking? Are you open to hearing whatever He has to say? Or are you only open if He says what you want Him to say? You cannot control God. He has His ways. Your job is to be obedient to what He says.

When you seek Him, you will find Him! So when He speaks, will you be ready? Are you listening for God’s voice?
