What For?

“For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.” - Ecclesiastes 3:1

As we discussed yesterday, everything in your life happens for a reason. There is no coincidence. When you are a believer, God is watching over your entire life. And in everything that happens, He is either orchestrating or allowing the situations and circumstances you find yourself in.

This can be encouraging because we know that no matter what we face, He has given it the “okay,” and He is with us every step of the way. So what do we do when we find ourselves in circumstances that are less than favorable? What do we do when God allows us to go through a trying season or difficult chapter in our life?

What you must do is focus on the PURPOSE of the season. If God allowed it, there is a purpose. You must find that purpose. Ecclesiastes 3:1 tells us, “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.” The season you are going through has a purpose and God wants you to discover that purpose and grow in your walk with Him.

To do this, you must ask the right questions. Too many believers consume themselves with the wrong questions. They waste time on questions that even if they found the answer would do them no good. “God, why me?” “Why would You allow this to happen to me?” “God, when is it going to end?”

These are questions that do not lead to growth. Instead, try asking “God, I know you have led me here for a reason. This season of my life has been orchestrated by you. The difficult circumstances I am in, you have allowed. What for? What do you want me to take from this season of my life?”

When you ask these questions, you please Him, because you align your focus with His. Everything God allows is to grow your faith and relationship with Him. When you focus on this, He will give you an answer! But finding the answer starts with asking the right questions. Instead of saying, “God, why me?” Ask Him, “God, what for?”

The answer might not only change your life, but it could possibly even get you through that difficult season a little quicker when you focus on His purpose!
