You Need Him… You Know That Right?
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.” - Proverbs 3:5-6
If you want to live your best life and not the “YOLO, I’m just having a good time” type of life, then you need God. Specifically, you need to follow His plan. We call this “God’s will.”
His will is what He desires to happen. We know He desires that we obey Him, that we refuse to give into temptation, that we serve others, and that love Him first, our neighbors second, and ourselves last of all. Now, this sounds simple. But we know how difficult these things are. As human beings, we are prone to sin nearly every day. For many, they don’t love God or their neighbors more than themselves.
But the Bible makes it clear that if you want to experience God’s very best for you, you must do it His way. And to do it His way, you need Him. If you asked a believer, “Did you know that you need God’s help?” They would probably look at you confused because of how obvious that statement is. Of course, we know we need God’s help!
Yet, for many, the way they live their lives would not reflect that they need God at all. Perhaps you can remember a time in your life when the way you were living was as if you didn’t need Him. You didn’t pray a whole lot. You didn’t read your Bible. You didn’t go to church. You just did your own thing and followed your own lead.
This is another reason God will disrupt your life. We learned yesterday that God will disrupt our lives in order to get our attention. He will also disrupt it to remind us of our need for Him. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.”
God has a plan for you that is greater than anything you could do for yourself. But in order to live out that plan, you need Him. You know that right?
