Jesus Is Real
“In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.” - John 1:1
Over the last few days, we have talked about being “real.” You know, not putting on a front that we have more than we do. Not “flexing” about our material possessions or social status. In a world obsessed with “heavily editing” everything we post on social media, God just wants us to be genuine, authentic, and honest.
We have talked about acting real... but today, I want to shift gears to someone who was and IS physically REAL. And that is Jesus. There are many people who question how real Jesus actually was. But I’m here to assure you today that there is no question about it. Jesus Christ was, is, and always will be REAL.
That is what John wanted us to know in John 1:1 when he said, “In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
He was letting the people know Jesus was real by getting straight to the point. At the time he preached this message, John was in his 80s or 90s. Have you ever been around an 80- or 90-year-old person? They will shoot you straight. They won’t hold back about the truth.
And that is exactly what John was doing when he was talking about Jesus. He didn’t have time to mess around. He wanted to get straight to the point, and that is exactly what I want to do in this short devotional today.
Have you ever questioned the realness of Jesus Christ? Do you ever wonder how real Jesus actually is? I am here to tell you today, make no mistake about it: He is real. You don’t just have to take my word for it. All throughout Scripture, we see how Jesus was real.
Jesus was tempted. Jesus had emotions. Jesus was killed. And yet, He rose again. You can google all kinds of things to find the realness of Jesus Christ. But I want you to know today, there is no question Jesus is real. And He is as real today as He has ever been!
