Build Your Group
“Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near.” - Hebrews 10:24-25
Do you have a community that can come alongside you when life hits you hard? Is there a group of people that you know, no matter what happens, will be there for you? A group of people that you can count on and who can count on you through the good times and the bad?
If not, then you need to build one! It is important to have a group of like-minded believers in your circle. This life is not easy. And we need other believers who are looking to strengthen their relationship with God and grow in their spiritual walk with Christ just as we are.
Hebrews 10:24-25 reminds us of how important this concept is. It says, “Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near.”
So, if it is that important, and you don’t currently have a group that you can turn to when life gets tough, what do you do? You have to build the group! So how do we do that? Let’s start by asking a few questions...
Where are the believers in your life? Are they at your church? Are they coaches at the ball field your kids play at? Are they co-workers? Are they parents of your children's friends? Where are they?
You need to find out who else around you is trying to grow their relationship with the Lord. You want to find people that have similar interests as you. Are their kids the same age? Do they play the same sports? Do they have similar careers or interests?
You don’t have to find a perfect match to every one of these questions. But the more similarities you find, the more they will be able to relate to the things going on in your life.
Who do you know that can be a part of your group? Find those around you that will walk with you through life, that you can build a community with. It was God’s plan from the beginning. If you don’t already have one, God might be calling you to build your group!
