East to West
“He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His steadfast love toward those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does He removes our transgressions from us. As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. - Psalm 103:10-13
If you have followed along with us the last few days, we have talked about forgiveness. We have specifically talked about those who have wronged you, let you down, or messed up in a way that cost you. And as a believer, you need to forgive them.
But maybe, as you read these, you are thinking, “Pastor, I don’t need to forgive them. I need God to forgive me. It’s not them who has messed up, it’s ME. I’ve really screwed up and I just can’t get past this one.”
If that is you, I have some good news for you. God has already forgiven you. That’s right, if you are a believer in Him and you’ve already given your life to Christ, then your sins are forgiven. It is as easy as that!
Psalm 103:10-12 says, “He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His steadfast love toward those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west...”
Isn’t that amazing? You serve a God, not who is sitting there tracking your every move on a spreadsheet. He doesn’t have a green column for good and a red column for bad. He isn’t like that at all. He has removed your sins, and they are as far from His mind as the east is from the west.
That is the kind of God He is! He loves you. He has forgiven you. You do not have to live with the shame of what you have done. That is why He went to the cross. Your sins are forgiven my friend, and they are nowhere in sight!
