His Will Not Our Will

“’My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,’ says the Lord. ‘And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.’” - Isaiah 55:8-9

If you want to receive the blessings of God, you must come to grips with a brutal reality: you are not God. What we want for ourselves is not always what is best for us. But thankfully, what God wants for us is ALWAYS what’s best for us.

He calls this “His will.” God’s will is His perfect plan for our lives. If we are obedient to Him and follow His commands, we can live out His will for our lives. But when we chase after our own desires, sometimes our will conflicts with His will.

Isaiah 55:8-9 tells us just how different our will is, it says, “’My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,’ says the Lord. ‘And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.’”

What we must understand is that God sees EVERYTHING. He doesn’t just see this moment or the next moment, but He sees every moment. He can see the past, present, and future. Most of us forget much of the past and only have the present to call on. And we definitely do not know what is going to happen in the future.

This is exactly why we should trust God. He sees everything. He knows everything. And best of all? He loves us and wants to give us His VERY BEST. When your will is conflicting with God’s will, you are short-changing God’s very best for your life.

What do you need to give to God? What do you want that is in conflict with the will of God? You are only short-changing the amazing blessing God wants to give you. But first, you have to give it to Him. Not my will, but Yours be done, Lord!
