Sliding in the DMs

“For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” - Romans 15:4

Yesterday, we talked about the blue check Jesus. When you get on social media, you can separate the real celebrities from the imposters through the blue check. It is an icon that gives validity to the actual celebrity and owner of the account.

It is how we can distinguish fake accounts from real ones. Now, I want you to think about something. Think of your favorite celebrity, your favorite follow on Instagram, Twitter, or TikTok.
Now, imagine that person “slid” into your DMs. For the older people reading this, “sliding” into the DMs is a phrase the younger generation uses for someone who has sent them a direct message, something no one else on the platform can see.

So you open your DMs, and you see the account has messaged you. You see the blue check. How fast would you open that message?

My guess is it would just be a matter of milliseconds before you opened the message. Now let's flip the question. What if Jesus, the blue check Jesus with a validated account, slid into your DMs?

How quickly would you open the message? You might be saying, “Pastor, I would open Jesus' message just as fast (maybe faster) than anyone else’s!”

If that is the case, why don’t you read His Word? He has a message waiting for you. The Bible is filled with instructions on what God wants us to do, and how we should handle the circumstances and challenges in our lives.

If we will read it, God will give us clarity about what He wants us to do. But we have to open the message.

God is sliding into your DMs NOW. That isn’t in theory. He has a message He is waiting for you to open. When are you going to open God’s DM?
