God Chases You
“But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, ‘Where are you?’” - Genesis 3:9
Over the last few days, we have talked about why we should turn to God even when we are unclean. As I have mentioned, far too many believers and nonbelievers think they have to clean their lives up on their own before they turn to God.
But that is just not true. God wants you just as you are. But sometimes, we don’t get that, and so we continue to avoid Him. Have you ever found yourself avoiding God? Maybe you are avoiding Him right now. You know you need Him, and you want a relationship with Him, but you think you have to get your ducks in a row and get things straightened up before you give your life to Him.
Sound familiar? If so, I have good news. When you don’t turn to God, He doesn’t give up on you. He chases you. In Genesis 3, Adam and Eve commit the very first sin. They eat the forbidden fruit. God had told them they can eat of any tree, except for one. And of course, they eat from that tree.
So what happened next? They ran from God, just as many of us do when we have sinned. But what is interesting is how God responds. Genesis 3:9 says, “But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, ‘Where are you?’”
Now, God didn’t lose the location of Adam and Eve. He knew where they were. But He called out to them because He was chasing them. You can’t outrun God, my friend. There is no sin that can overcome His mercy and grace. His grace is always enough.
The good news is that even when we don’t feel that His grace is enough, He still comes after us. He still chases us. Did you know God is chasing you right now? Even though you have lived in a way that is not pleasing to Him, He has not given up on you.
God is chasing you right now. Are you going to keep running? Or are you going to turn around and let Him in? Are you ready to stop running from God, today?
