Good, Acceptable, and Perfect
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” - Romans 12:2
When you transform and renew your mind, you are not only able to discern God’s will, but you will know what He wants and what He doesn’t want.
We live in a world where there is a large “grey” area. Even though many people like to paint a lot of things black or white, the fact is, much of it is grey. Now don’t get me wrong, there are definitely things that are black and white. The Bible addresses many of those things.
But there are also areas the Bible doesn’t specifically address. These are things that many Christians will even argue about because they disagree on interpretation. Now that’s a whole different story.
But the point is that when you can discern God’s will, you can know what is black and white for YOUR LIFE. It doesn’t mean that what God tells you to do (and what not to do) is the same for everyone. He might have a very different plan for someone else.
But at least for you, you will confidently know what He wants from you and for you. Paul tells us this in Romans 12:2 when it says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
What this verse is saying is that once you can discern God’s will, you will know what is good and what is not good, what is acceptable and what is not acceptable, and what is perfect and what is not perfect for YOUR LIFE and YOUR MISSION.
And that is all you need to be worried about, anyways. Renew your mind so you can discern God’s will. And when you can discern His will, you will know what is good, acceptable, and perfect FOR YOU!
