Show You Care
“But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.” - 1 John 3:17-18
Yesterday, I asked this question: What is happening around you? Do you know what’s going on in your kid's lives? In your best friends’ lives? What about your aunt that lives in a different state?
God doesn’t call us to live a life only concerned with ourselves. Instead, He wants us to care for others. And that care is not just about saying we care but showing that we do.
1 John 3:17-18 says, “But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”
See, it’s not enough just to say you love someone with your mouth. How do you show them? If you call to “check in” on someone you say you are close to but haven’t talked to in six months, you hurry through the call because you really only called because felt like you needed to. And then at the end of the conversation, you say, “Love you.”
I’m not here to question your love for the people in your life. But how are you showing that person you love them? Are you actually demonstrating your love? Do you show people you care? Or is it all lip service?
Sure, we care about the people closest to us. But do we actually show them that care on a regular basis? What could you do today to show someone in your life you really care about them?
I want to challenge you today, don’t just say you care. Show it. Show someone today how much they really mean to you. It means so much more when we show it and don’t just say it.
