Do It Anyway
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” – Proverbs 3:5
If you have been following along with us, you know we have been thinking through the consequences of ignoring God. You know, the price we pay when we decided to ignore God’s call and delay or completely reject His instruction.
Whenever a follower of Christ decides not to obey God, it is not without thought. Typically, it is because we think we know more than God. Maybe not in general, but for some reason, we have decided in this instance that we know more than Him.
It might sound silly to say, but that’s exactly what we are doing. As we have looked at the last few days, there are consequences for disobeying God. And those consequences extend far beyond the decision to ignore or reject God’s call.
Whether you agree with God’s call or not, I would encourage you to do it anyway. As you read this, you realized how silly it sounds to say we know more than God. But when we ignore His calling, that is exactly what we are communicating.
If it really is that silly, and we know there are consequences to be paid, why don’t we just obey Him even when we don’t want to? Proverbs 3:5 gives us great wisdom on this topic. It says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.”
You will find out that when you obey God, everything will work out. You will be blessed, things will just go smoother, you will reap rewards rather than discipline, and you will be thankful that you chose to do it God’s way.
Even when you don’t want to obey, do it anyway. God knows best. His ways are for your good. You will never regret trusting and obeying God.
