Striving for Progress, Not Perfection
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." - Romans 3:23
Do you ever feel like you have to be perfect? Like you have to have everything together and never make a mistake? If so, I want to challenge your thinking today.
The truth is no one is perfect. Not you, not me, not anyone. The Bible tells us in Romans 3:23 that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Even the most faithful believers have struggles and imperfections.
But here's the good news: we don't have to be perfect. We can't be perfect, and that's okay. Our goal should be to strive to be more like Jesus every day, not to hold ourselves to an impossible standard of perfection.
When we let go of the expectation of perfection, we can start to focus on progress. We can take steps forward in our faith, even if they are small steps. We can grow and learn from our mistakes, instead of being held back by them.
So, if you're feeling like you have to be perfect, I want to encourage you to let go of that expectation. Instead, focus on progress. Take small steps each day to become more like Jesus. Pray for God's help and guidance, and trust that He will work in your heart to help you grow.
Remember, even the greatest saints in history were not perfect. They had struggles and weaknesses, just like you and me. But they trusted in God's grace and relied on His strength to help them become more like Jesus. Let’s do our best to follow their example and walk in their footsteps as we choose to trust in God’s ability rather than our own.
