Growing More Like Jesus

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV) - "And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit."

Walking with God is not a destination; it is a lifelong journey of transformation. In this journey, we come to understand that we will never reach perfection on our own. However, our desire should be to continually strive to become more and more like Jesus, with the help of the Holy Spirit.

The apostle Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 3:18 that as we contemplate the Lord's glory, we are being transformed into His image. Our journey of faith is marked by a gradual process of growth, as we allow God to shape and mold us into reflections of His character and love.

Recognizing that we will never attain perfection on this side of eternity is important. It reminds us of our need for God's grace, mercy, and forgiveness. It keeps us humble, dependent on Him, and in constant pursuit of His likeness.

In our journey, we can strive to be more like Jesus by seeking intimacy with God. Cultivating a deep and intimate relationship with Him through prayer, meditation on His Word, and worship allows us to align our hearts and minds with His. It is through this intimacy that we grow to know Him more and reflect His character.

We also grow by embracing grace. Understanding that our growth is a result of God's work in us rather than our own efforts frees us from the burden of perfectionism. It allows us to receive God's grace with humility, acknowledging that we are constantly in need of His transforming power.

Surrendering to the Holy Spirit is essential. Allowing Him to guide, empower, and transform us, we yield to His leading, convicting us of areas that need growth and empowering us to walk in obedience.

Remember, the journey of faith is not about reaching a state of perfection but rather about continually growing in Christ-likeness. We are called to be "works in progress," always surrendering to God's transformative work in us.

Strive to be more like Jesus each day, knowing that it is through this ongoing process of transformation that we experience the beauty and fulfillment found in a deep and abiding relationship with our Savior.
