The Daily Act of Surrender

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship." - Romans 12:1

You've likely heard the phrase "surrender to Christ" before, but what does full surrender truly entail? Surrendering to Christ is not a one-time decision you make when you first give your life to Him. Instead, it's a daily choice, a continuous commitment to relinquish control and trust God with every aspect of your life.

Full surrender to Christ is like a living sacrifice, as Romans 12:1 describes. It means offering yourself, your desires, your plans, your worries, and your dreams to God on a daily basis. It's acknowledging that His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts beyond our understanding.

This surrender begins with acknowledging that we are not in control of our lives as much as we'd like to think. It's recognizing our limitations and the reality that only God has a complete understanding of our past, present, and future. When we acknowledge this, we're poised to surrender the reins to Him.

Every day, we must release our grip on our own plans and desires and allow God to take the lead. We seek His will and guidance through prayer, Scripture, and the leading of the Holy Spirit. In our decisions, we consider what is in line with His character and His purpose for our lives.

True surrender involves letting go of fear and anxiety. It means trusting that God is in control, even when life seems uncertain or challenging. It means being willing to embrace change, follow God's call, and step out of our comfort zones when He leads us to do so.

It also means surrendering our desires for instant gratification and trusting God's timing. It requires patience and faith in His plan, even when we can't see the whole picture. We trust that His timing is perfect, and His ways are always for our good.

Surrendering to Christ is a lifelong journey. It's not always easy, and we may falter, but it's a commitment to grow in our relationship with Him. It's the realization that, by surrendering, we find true freedom, joy, and fulfillment in living out God's purpose for our lives.

Are there areas of your life where you're still holding on to control? Let go and make the choice to fully surrender, trusting God to guide your steps. It's a daily decision, but it leads to a life filled with the peace and fulfillment that can only come from walking in His presence and under His guidance.
