Wisdom in Decision-Making

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.- Proverbs 3:5-6

Wisdom is something as believers we should all be seeking. With wisdom, your life can dramatically change. One specific way that wisdom can profoundly impact our lives is in decision-making. When we seek wisdom from God and allow it to guide our choices, we open ourselves to a path of blessing and fulfillment.

Just look at the story of Joseph in the book of Genesis. Joseph, sold into slavery by his jealous brothers, found himself facing numerous trials and challenges. Yet, through it all, he remained faithful to God and sought wisdom in every situation.

When Potiphar's wife falsely accused him of wrongdoing, Joseph could have succumbed to bitterness or despair. Instead, he trusted in God's wisdom, refusing to compromise his integrity. His decision to flee from temptation not only preserved his own honor but also positioned him for future blessings.

Even when Joseph was unjustly thrown into prison, he continued to trust in God's wisdom and faithfulness. His willingness to serve others and interpret dreams eventually led to his release and promotion to a position of authority in Egypt—a role that allowed him to save countless lives during a time of famine.

Joseph's story reminds us that wisdom isn't just about making the right choices; it's about trusting in God's sovereignty and following His lead, even when the path seems uncertain. When we seek wisdom from God and submit our decisions to Him, He promises to make our paths straight—to guide us along the journey of life in alignment with His perfect will.

In our own lives, we face countless decisions—big and small—that shape our destinies. When we lean on our own understanding, we risk veering off course or falling into pitfalls. But when we trust in the Lord with all our hearts and seek His wisdom in all our ways, He promises to lead us on a path of blessing and fulfillment.

As you encounter decisions in your life, large or small, I encourage you to seek wisdom from God. Trust in His guidance and allow His wisdom to illuminate your path. For when we lean on Him and submit to His will, He will faithfully lead us into the abundant life He has planned for us.
