Choosing What to Chase
"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." - Matthew 6:33
Life presents us with countless choices every day, doesn't it? From the moment we wake up to the time we lay our heads down at night, we're constantly faced with decisions—some big, some small—that shape the course of our lives. But one of the most important choices we'll ever make is this: What will we chase after?
It is easy to get caught up in the pursuit of worldly things. We chase after success, wealth, and recognition, thinking that these are the things that will bring us fulfillment and satisfaction. And yes, for a moment, they may seem enticing. But if we're honest with ourselves, we'll soon realize that the things of this world never truly satisfy.
Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6:33 to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. He's not saying that we shouldn't have goals or ambitions, but rather, He's inviting us to prioritize our pursuit. When we chase after God and His ways, something remarkable happens: we find true peace, lasting joy, and deep fulfillment—not in the fleeting pleasures of the world, but in the richness of His presence.
Think about it for a moment. When you chase after the things of this world—whether it's money, status, or temporary pleasures—what do you ultimately find? More often than not, you'll discover that these things only leave you feeling empty, longing for something more. They promise much but deliver little, leaving behind a trail of broken dreams and shattered hopes.
But when you choose to chase after God, everything changes. His love fills the empty places of your heart, His grace covers your mistakes, and His peace surpasses all understanding. It's a journey filled with adventure, purpose, and meaning—a journey that leads to life in its fullest expression.
The choice is yours, my friend. Will you continue to chase after the fleeting pleasures of this world, or will you set your heart on the things of God? Remember, the things of this world may sparkle and shine for a moment, but they will never satisfy. Choose wisely, for the pursuit of God leads to a life beyond your wildest dreams—a life filled with love, joy, and abundant blessings.
