Strengthen What Remains
“Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of God. Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.”
- Revelation 3:2-3
- Revelation 3:2-3
Yesterday, we talked about waking up so that the enemy does not have a foothold to tempt us or lead us down a dangerous path. While this advice is true, we should not only wake up to avoid the bad, but we should also wake up so we can do what is good — the Will of God! Revelation 3:2 tells us to “Strengthen what remains and is about to die.” Though there is a point we will die, we must continue to strengthen what we have during the time we still have on this earth.
One cold morning I went to the gym, and I was in the car with the heat on. I thought to myself, I am not trying to get out of this warm car right now. I was reading the book of Proverbs, enjoying some coffee, about to workout. But then I fell asleep in my car, in the parking lot at the gym. Not for five minutes...or ten minutes...but for an hour!
When I woke up, the car was still running, and the heat was still on. I looked at my watch and realized I had to go, I had run out of time. When I arrived back home, I walked in the kitchen, and my wife asked me, “how was the gym? You don’t look like you worked out? What happened?” I told her I had fallen asleep in the car and ran out of time.
Maybe you can relate to this story. Maybe you haven’t literally fallen asleep, but you have failed to do something you know you should do. Maybe God has called you to something — maybe it is small, or maybe it is really big. Either way, you have fallen asleep and have yet to do it. Don’t do what I did and run out of time because there will come a point that we meet our Maker face to face. And when we do, we want to know we did what He asked. “Go to the gym,” so to speak. Strengthen what remains now while you still can!

I can relate to "falling asleep" and running out of time in many situations. Thanks for the WAKE UP call Pastor Ed! Love you brother
