Will You Open The Door?
“Then I saw ‘a new heaven and a new earth,’ for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.” (Revelation 21:1-2)
Over the last couple of days, we have talked about how God can recreate your life if your world has been turned upside down, or you are somewhere you never imagined you would be. Maybe you even ask yourself, how did I get here? If you are not where you want to be, I have good news for you, God can get you out. Not only can He get you out, but He can create something more beautiful for you than you can possibly imagine.
And not only can He do this, but He wants to. He wants to help you. Revelation 3:20 says, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” See, He not only wants to help, He is standing at your door, knocking. But will you open the door?
Tony Robbins once said, “Change happens when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change.” For so many, there is immense hurt, but the only thing that sounds more painful than what they are going through, is change. We are creatures of habit. We get comfortable with where we are and what we are doing. This is what makes it so hard to “get out.”
From the outside, others wonder why we stay in the situations and circumstances we are in. Why do we stay in a relationship that does not serve us? But the reason is comfort. We do not want to open the door because we know God’s way is going to cause us to change. But that change is necessary to live the beautiful life God wants to create for you.
Listen my friend, the change is worth it. You will never regret following the ultimate Creator. He will make your life “as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.” He will give you His best. But first, will you open the door?
