God Is Always On Time
“At the first light of dawn, the king got up and hurried to the lions’ den. When he came near the den, he called to Daniel in an anguished voice, ‘Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually been able to rescue you from the lions?’ Daniel answered, ‘May the king live forever! My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight.” - Daniel 6:19-22
Over the last week, we have discussed the heroic story of Daniel in the lion's den. We have highlighted the traits of Daniel and what formed this heroic story. And while Daniel was no doubt faithful to God at every point in the story, make no mistake about it. God is still the hero of this story.
What we see in this story, like every amazing Biblical story, is that God showed up on time, because God is always on time. It is great that Daniel was a man of character. It was great that Daniel was a man with convictions. It is great that Daniel had bold faith, and kept perspective, persistence, and praise at the forefront of his life. But it all means nothing if God is not there to help when he is thrown into the lion's den.
Throughout Daniel’s entire life, he was dependent upon God. This was no different when he was thrown to the lions. It was not Daniel who shut their mouths. He responds to Darius in verse 22, “My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions.” It was God. Daniel needed God to show up for him, to validate his faith, and as always, God was right there on time.
We think of the story of Daniel as a challenge, motivation, or inspiration to boldly proclaim our faith. And while that is true, that is not all the story is. For you, it might not be about proclaiming your faith, but even displaying faith.
Maybe you are waiting on God. You pray, and pray, and pray, and you haven’t seen the fruit of it yet. You keep wondering, is God going to show up? I’m here to tell you today that God is never late. He might not be early (like you want), but He is ALWAYS on time!
