The Consequences of Our Actions

“Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.” - Galatians 6:7

When you look at the book of Micah, you will quickly find a problem with the people of God that Micah was dealing with. The problem with God’s people was simply that they lived as if there were no consequences to their sin. But this was not just a problem in that day and time.

It is true for us today as well. If we are not careful, the problem that people had in Micah’s day can become our problem too. We fall into dangerous territory when we begin to live any way we want to live or believe we can do whatever we want to do and God will just back it.

As a result of them living in such a way, they felt like they could live however they wanted. They knew better, and God was not going to sit back while they treated each other in such a way. God used Micah to communicate that these people, His chosen people, must be disciplined for their injustice and that God would rule on them with justice someday.

In the same way, if you just continue to live how you want to live and throw the thought of the consequences of your actions into the wind, you are in for a rude awakening. Your day of justice and judgment is coming. The Bible says you reap what you sow. When you sow seeds of obedience, you will reap a harvest of blessing.

But when you sow seeds of disobedience, choosing to do what you want to do, you will reap the consequences of judgment and justice. God is a fair judge. He knows what sin will do to you. And He loves you too much to watch you take yourself down through sin.

If you are living in sin, give it to God. Not later. Not sometime in the future. TODAY. God wants you to give it to Him today. He can transform your life. He can put you back on track. But it starts with asking for forgiveness and understanding all of your actions have consequences.
