A Dim Light
“Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, ‘I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.’” - John 8:12
Has your light for Christ gone dim? Maybe you have struggled to show the love of God because you haven’t felt the love of God yourself lately. As believers, we all can go through times when our light just doesn’t shine as bright as it used to.
If you are reading this and thinking to yourself, “Yes, pastor, that’s me you’re talking about. I was on fire for God, I was shining His light all the time, but something happened in my life. Things got hard, and my light has gone dim.”
If you can relate to that, I want you to know, it’s OKAY. We all go through the mountains and the valleys in life. And trust me, it is always easier for that light to shine on a mountaintop than a valley low.
But when that time comes, and you feel your light for Christ dimming, there is a solution. John 8:12 says, “Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, ‘I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.’”
Is your light dimming? The answer is to turn toward the One who provides the light. Jesus is our source of light. And if we follow Him, we will never have to walk in darkness. If you’re feeling like your light is dim, it might just be that you aren’t as close to the Lord as you used to be.
Sometimes, this happens when life is going really well. We don’t think we need God and that we can do it all by ourselves. Or, on the opposite end of the spectrum, life is really down and maybe we blame God for it.
There is no circumstance that we are better off without God. If your light is dimming, turn to the Source of light! He will brighten your path and make a way through it. Turn to Jesus for your light. He is always the best solution!
