Your Name
“I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever.” - Psalm 145:1
Are you living in a way that exalts God’s name or your name? Over the last couple of days, we have looked at reasons why we fail to trust God. What it really boils down to is that when we don’t display faith, we are communicating that we think we know more than God.
Sometimes, that is in the form of eating the “forbidden fruit.” This is when God tells us “no,” and we go ahead and indulge anyway. Other times, we lack faith because we really just want to fit in even though that has never been God’s will for us.
Today, we are going to look at a third way we fail to trust God, and that is when we seek to build our name over His name. When you make decisions that are going to bring praise and recognition to yourself, you are on the wrong path.
God is the one who has blessed us with everything we have. Whether it is material gifts, talents, or abilities, if you have it... God gave it to you. And He gave you those gifts so you can use them to bring glory and honor to His name.
But too often we use the gifts God has given us for our own personal gain. We lack the faith to believe that God will take care of blessing us, so we seek to get the blessings ourselves. That is when we can get in trouble.
As Psalm 145:1 says, “I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever.”
If you have been living in a way that brings recognition and praise to your name, I want to challenge you to change your approach. Trust that God will take care of blessing you and use the gifts He has given you to bring glory to His name!
