It’s Not About You
“And calling the crowd to Him with His disciples, He said to them, ‘If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.” - Mark 8:34
When you live your life in faith, trusting and obeying God’s commands, you will be blessed. And when you fail to have faith and choose not to trust Him, you will suffer the consequences. The Bible makes this idea very clear.
Over the last three days, we have looked at three reasons why we can struggle to have faith. Whether it’s because we want something God has said “no” to, or we just want to fit in and be like the world, or we want to promote our own name rather than honoring God with what He’s given us.
To put it simply, we are missing out on the blessings God has for us when we fail to trust Him. As believers, we can make the mistake of thinking that blessings are about us and that God will give us infinite chances to get things right because He wants to bless us.
But don’t make this mistake. Blessings are not about you, rather they are all about Him. When God blesses you, what He is really doing is bringing glory and honor to His name; you just benefit in the process. God doesn’t need to bless you to bring glory and honor to His name.
It is dangerous to think that God will give you an infinite number of chances to get it right. Remember, your blessings aren’t about you. Everything God does is for His Kingdom. You might benefit from it, but that doesn’t make it about you.
You are not entitled to God’s blessing. And if you continue to ignore His commands and not trust Him, you will lose out on your blessing. Don’t miss your blessing. Understand that it isn’t about you and let God lead you to a life of faith!
