Pray For Them

“Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” - James 5:16

How much of your prayer life is focused on other people? It’s crazy to think about, but even those that have great prayer lives and are super consistent in prayer still can fill their entire prayer time with their own concerns.

It is easy to get so caught up in your own life that you forget the struggles and hardships those around you are going through. We have spent the last couple of days talking about caring for others. But there might be no better way to show you care for someone than to pray for them.

This is not about boasting, either. You don’t even have to tell them you are praying for them. Or at least, how frequently you spend time praying for them. It is great to show people you care about them. But it is also great to care about them, even when they don’t see it.

James 5:16 says, “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”

As followers of Jesus Christ, we know how powerful prayer can be. When you pray for others, you involve the power of Almighty God to change circumstances in a person’s life.

Who needs your prayer today? Who is going through difficult circumstances, facing hardships, battling addictions, going through a divorce, or struggling to adjust to a new city? Take some time and pray for them.

Once you find out what is really going on in their life (by taking time to hear about their lives and asking questions), the next step is to stop and pray for them. But don’t just pray once and then forget about it. I want to challenge you to make that person a consistent part of your prayer time.

Who do you need to stop and pray for today?
