Overcoming the Barrier of Pride

"When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom." - Proverbs 11:2

Pride, that subtle but powerful foe, has a way of creeping into our hearts and minds, causing us to believe that we know better than God. This prideful attitude can hinder us from fully living out the extraordinary plan that God has for our lives. It's essential to recognize and overcome this barrier to embrace God's wisdom and purpose.

Proverbs 11:2 reminds us that pride leads to disgrace, but humility brings wisdom. When we allow pride to take root, we start believing that our plans, desires, and understanding surpass God's. We trust in our own judgment rather than seeking His guidance.

Pride often manifests as self-sufficiency, an attitude that says, "I can handle this on my own; I don't need God's help." It blinds us to our limitations and distances us from the source of true wisdom and extraordinary purpose.

The Bible tells us the story of King Nebuchadnezzar in the book of Daniel. He was a powerful and successful ruler, but pride led him to believe that his achievements were solely his doing. God humbled him, causing him to live like a wild animal until he acknowledged God's sovereignty. It was only through humility that Nebuchadnezzar was restored and able to recognize God's extraordinary plan.

Similarly, the apostle Peter's pride led to his denial of Jesus during His crucifixion. He thought he knew better than Jesus when he declared he would never deny Him. But it was Peter's subsequent humility and repentance that allowed him to become a significant leader in the early church, fully embracing God's extraordinary plan for spreading the Gospel.

To overcome the barrier of pride, we must acknowledge our need for God's guidance and wisdom. It requires humility to admit that we don't have all the answers and that God's ways are higher than our ways. When we humble ourselves before God, we open the door to His extraordinary plan.

Today, let humility be your guide, acknowledging that God's wisdom far surpasses your own. Seek His guidance in all that you do, trusting that His extraordinary plan is greater than anything you could imagine.
