The Crown of Life

“Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads.”
- Revelation 4:4
Over the last couple of days, we have talked about facing challenges and trying times. We want to remember it is God who is on the throne and in control. We also want to remember He is a promise maker and promise keeper who will do everything He promised. And while these are certainly encouraging things to remember, what is at the end of it all? What is the light at the end of the tunnel?

That, my friend, is the crown of life. You might have gone through things nobody else would ever dream of going through — things that they would have quit on or given up on. And yet you have been faithful and continued to follow God no matter how hard your circumstances have been. Because of your faithfulness, God says you shall receive the crown of life.

Revelation 2:10 says, “Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.” There is a crown of glory. And if you are faithful, God will bless you with it.

No matter what you are going through, you are not suffering in vain. There is a crown waiting for you. God wants to reward you for your faithfulness. But you cannot quit now. You must continue to run your race. 1 Corinthians 9:24 says, “Do you not know that in a race all runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.”

Everyone in life will go through difficult times. Everyone will face tough trials, hardships, painful moments. But God is faithful. He is not only on the throne; He will not only keep every promise He makes, but He will grant you the crown of life if you will remain faithful. Run to receive the prize! Run to receive the crown!
