Peace Forever

“But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. Then one of the elders said to me, ‘Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
- Revelation 5:3-5
Yesterday, we discussed the opening of the seal mentioned in Revelation chapter five and its significance. What is so important about opening a seal, and why does it matter, you might ask? Well, it matters because the opening of the seal is the key to God’s eternal victory and the peace we believers so desperately desire.

When John was weeping that no one could open the scroll, what he was really saying was, do we have to keep living in tumultuous times? Do we have to keep living in this tribulation? Do we have to keep living in the demonic forces of hell continuing to win the day? When will be the time that the champion comes from the corner with the belt on?

After that, the elder begins to speak and says, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.” So out of the corner, our champion walks! He’s the lion of Judah. He is the conquering royal king. And He comes out, and He defies all weight classes with the belt on.

Here is what you need to know; because Jesus defeated sin, death, and hell, He has earned the right to be able to walk into this space and take the scroll from God. His opening of the scroll will begin these judgments that eventually will bring the demise of Satan, the anti-Christ, and the demons. And because of this judgment, death is defeated. Sin is defeated. And where sin no longer resides, peace is found.

See, sin keeps us from peace, because sin separates us from God. Sin also has so many other side effects. When we sin, we feel guilt, uneasiness, worry, frustration, anger, dissatisfaction, among so many others. But when sin is defeated, a future of complete peace waits. And that peace will not be temporary. That peace will last forever. Praise be to God that there is a day coming where peace will last forever!
