Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda
“They were not allowed to kill them but only to torture them for five months. And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion when it strikes. During those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them.”
- Revelation 9:5-6
- Revelation 9:5-6
One day, whether because of death or the rapture, you will come face to face with your Heavenly Father. And when you get to heaven, you will see a bunch of people. Many of these people you read about in Scripture, many will be people you knew on earth, and many will be people you will be introduced to. What you will also notice, though, is those who aren’t there.
When you think of those people, not seeing them...it might come as a surprise. Or it might not. Either way, at that time, nothing else will matter. Today, we can come up with so many reasons why we don’t share our faith with others. We don’t want things to become “awkward” after we tell them the truth of Jesus. Or maybe we just didn’t have the time. I “coulda” but something came up. Or I “shoulda” but then I decided not because I wasn’t comfortable. I “woulda” but they changed the subject before I could.
Coulda, shoulda, woulda. When it comes to eternity, especially the eternity of those you love, you do not want to be saying these words. No fear of awkwardness or need to be comfortable is worth failing to share the truth of Jesus Christ for those whose eternity hangs in the balance. Revelation 9:5-6 tells us that there will be a time when demons come to the earth and torture those who have not chosen Jesus.
These could very well be people you love who heard a little about Jesus and knew He was real and but did not trust Him with their eternity. But at that point, they will be tortured to the point that they want to die but can’t. They will load guns to pull the trigger, and nothing will come out. They will attempt to slit their wrists and fail. They will do this, because the pain of living is not worth it, but yet they cannot die.
Do not let anyone you love get to this point. If you read this and someone comes to mind, don’t waste another day. Have that conversation with them now so you never have to wonder what “coulda” been.
