There Is Another In The Fire
“He said, ‘Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.’”
- Daniel 3:25
- Daniel 3:25
As we continue our series in Revelation, we come to Revelation 10. From the very beginning we read about an “angel” coming down from heaven. The passage says, “Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven. He was robed in a cloud, with a rainbow above his head; his face was like the sun, and his legs were like fiery pillars.”
This angel was none other than Jesus, Himself. This is not the first time we see Jesus appear as an angel in Scripture. We know this from the book of Daniel, when Jesus was in the fire with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. King Nebuchadnezzar says he saw a fourth man. That man was Jesus.
If you read the story in Daniel 3, these three men were thrown in the fiery furnace because they refused to worship the king. When they went inside and as the fire set in, they were moving around. They did not burn. Not only did the king and those on the outside observing notice the men were not burning, but they saw a fourth man in the fire. This was Jesus who was with the men.
You might ask, why was Jesus in the fire with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego? Because when their faith was put to the test, and they had to face the fire, Jesus was with them. And He will be with you too. When you decide to follow Jesus, He does not promise an easy road, but He does promise to be with you every step of the way.
You might go through the “fire” so to speak. It might not be a physical fire, but circumstances in your life could put your faith to the test. Jesus wants to see if you trust Him enough to walk into tough circumstances. But when you do, you can be confident that you are not alone. This story in Daniel 3 is yet another example of how no matter what you go through, if you are following Jesus, He is going through it with you, He will be there beside you the whole way.
