The Social Expert
“One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me, ‘Come, I will show you the punishment of the great prostitute, who sits by many waters. With her the kings of the earth committed adultery, and the inhabitants of the earth were intoxicated with the wine of her adulteries.” (Revelation 17:1-2)
Yesterday we talked about the one world church, which Revelation 17 describes as a prostitute. This is not a description of an actual woman but watch how this compares and contrasts. We are the bride, Jesus is the groom and this bride is actually a prostitute married to who? To the anti-Christ.
The anti-Christ for the first three and a half years of the tribulation is a political leader. So many will just blindly listen and follow him. During this global pandemic we have been going through, how often have we seen this? Our culture and society’s willingness to listen to anyone on television who is considered an “expert?”
We live in a social media society that has given everyone a voice (for free). There is no cost of entry. You just make a profile, and you can begin talking about things whether you are educated on the subject or not. And far more often than not, people are just typing things that they have not done research on, just giving their opinions. They are keyboard warriors, hiding behind a screen.
Yet, so many people are using these social media “experts” to validate their point or argument, or just to join in casual conversation. Listen, there will be many fooled when the anti-Christ leads one day. But many are fooled now, letting influencers who do not know what they are talking about guide decisions society makes.
This is not to say that every person on social media is a fraud and does not know what they are talking about. There are plenty of people who have put in the work, done the research, have experience and know what they are talking about. These people can help you save time, money, and even lead to great decisions. But make sure you actually consider who you are listening to. And ultimately, you want God to guide all of your decisions. He is the real “expert” of all things!
