Going Through The Motions

“Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, for true and just are his judgments. He has condemned the great prostitute who corrupted the earth by her adulteries. He has avenged on her the blood of his servants.” (Revelation 19:1-2)

Going through the motions. It is something a lot of pastors and speakers talk about in relation to God. So many believers become “lukewarm” in their relationship with Christ. It is not that they have strayed away from God. They still go to church, pray, and maybe even read God’s Word. But they are not digging in. They are not studying in a way that will change their lives. But that is not what we are talking about today.

In regards to going through the motions, we have spent a lot of time talking about the tribulation and God’s victory over Satan and his demons. But if we win in the end, why do we live in defeat today? If we know the score is going to be in our favor, then why are we freaking out at half time that we are going to lose? This whole thing has been prerecorded. God sovereignly has orchestrated all these events.

We are not just going through the motions. We have a purpose on this earth. As the world continues to get further and further away from Christ, the opportunity for you to shine as a light for Him becomes even greater. The purpose God has for you is individually designed just for you. It is not that you are plan A, and if you do not do it someone else is plan B, or you are plan B for someone else’s plan.

The destiny God has designed for you is so unique to you. For you and I to go through the motions robs us of the blessings and opportunities God wants to place in our lives. People can be changed, places can be changed, the world can be changed. But God wants to use you to do it. We cannot live with the mindset that just because we win in the end, God does not want us to play a part.
God does not need us. He can do anything and accomplish anything.

But He wants to make you a part of His big plan. Do not go through the motions, allow God to use you as a light in His master plan.
