For Ever And Ever And Ever
“There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.” (Revelation 21:5)
Forever. It is a word we use often, yet rarely does it actually apply. By definition, forever means, “for all future time; for always or continually.” It does not come to an end. And the things we are often talking about have an expiration date. Relationships, happiness, a stage of life, or a job that we might love. Sadly, they will all end. But God’s reign never will. It will go on forever and ever...and ever.
This can be hard to comprehend. It even scares some people. Because we were born and we will die, everything we know has a beginning and an end...except for God. He did not have a beginning and we will share in eternity with Him that is never ending. Yesterday, we talked about being heavenly minded and considering eternity in our daily lives. The decisions you make on a daily basis should be with eternity in mind.
We talked about what matters most — who will be there and who will not. It is definitely something to consider, because the decisions we make now will matter. 2 Corinthians 5:10 says, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.”
We will reap in heaven what we have sowed on earth. The things we do now, the choices we make, the people we help (or don’t help), the life we lead, it will all matter. What you do now will count, forever and ever...and ever.
