Champions of Heaven
“And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20).
It’s easy for someone who has authority over us to command us to do something while they stand on the sidelines and watch. They might even reap the benefits of our hard labor and never pause to reward or acknowledge our work.
When you work for the Kingdom, the King goes with you. It’s one thing for Jesus to command His disciples to go and make disciples of all the nations before He ascends into heaven, but it’s another thing when He promises that wherever they go, He will be with them. This is true for us today. As we go, He goes with us.
What other leader promises their servant that they will go on the mission they’ve tasked the servant with? But when we call Jesus “Savior,” it means He’ll never leave us, even to death.
When we understand this truth, it changes us. It changes the posture of our hearts, helping us walk in confidence even in impossible circumstances. The Lord of heaven and earth walks with us.
If you are a parent, how many times have you seen your child lack confidence, and you just want them to believe in themselves the way you believe in them? You just want them to believe about themselves the things that you believe about them. Have you ever looked at your child and thought, I just wish I could put my confidence inside of your soul?
Even if you’re not a parent, imagine the person you love most in the world wrestling hard with their own heart and lacking the confidence to do what you know they are capable of, and you just want to carry the weight of their doubt on your own shoulders.
That’s what the Lord does. He takes away the weight of our doubts, guilt, insecurities, and shortcomings, and He replaces these with His blessings and a holy anointing on your life. He puts His very Spirit in you so that you will have a Helper—one that’s a living part of you and who will never abandon you.
God has championed you your whole life. He’s been chasing you down and pursuing your heart since the moment you took your first breath because He’s created you for great things.
He’s fashioned a destiny for you. You don’t serve an unloving, tyrant king.
Your King champions you, elevates you, and enables you to take His message and run with it.
