The Lion In You

“So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den. The king said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!” - Daniel 6:16

The lion in you is greater than the lions surrounding you. Did you catch that? The lion IN YOU is GREATER than the lions SURROUNDING you. What are the lions surrounding you? It could be a medical diagnosis or prognosis. It could be a marriage situation you find yourself praying for. It could a prodigal kid that needs to come back home, or it could be a drug addiction.

The lions of defeat are roaring right now, but I’ll say there is a lion in you greater than the lions surrounding you. Let the lion of Jesus Christ, the lion of Judah, roar from within your heart and your soul that He is greater!

We see this description of the lions quite literally in Daniel 6. Daniel, a loyal servant of God, refused to pray to the king of Persia, a man named Darius. Not only did he refuse to pray to Darius, but he was consistently praying to God. There was a law put in place specifically targeting Daniel that stated the only person one can pray to is Darius.

But Daniel remained obedient to Christ, regardless of the consequences. The punishment, however, for this law was that Daniel would be thrown into a lion's den. Keep in mind that these are lions that have not been fed for quite some time, they are HUNGRY and looking for something to eat.

But God protected Daniel. He says in verse 22, “My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, Your Majesty.”

When you are obedient to Christ, He rewards you. He stands by you, and He helps you. Daniel went through the lion's den unscathed because the lions surrounding him were not greater than the lion within him.

And the same is true for you! When you have the Spirit of God inside of you, the lion in you is greater than anything surrounding you! What an amazing encouragement it is to know that no matter what we face, God is greater than it all, and He can lead you to conquer anything that comes against you!
