Qualifying the Called
“Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God.” - 2 Corinthians 3:5
Have you ever felt like God has you in over your head? Like you know you are following His will, and you are at peace with where you are because of your obedience, but you aren’t at peace when you think about performance?
You just don’t know if you have what it takes to do what He is asking you to do. If that sounds familiar, I have good news for you. God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called. 2 Corinthians 3:5 tells us, “Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God.”
God does not expect you to be sufficient apart from Him. See, when you need Him, He is glorified, because it becomes very apparent when you can’t do things on your own. That is what God loves. The Bible is filled with stories of underqualified people doing extraordinary things.
In fact, they did such extraordinary things that someone took the time to write about it, and it now sits in the most bought book in the history of the world! That’s pretty cool, right? God took these people who were “in over their head,” who were “unqualified,” and He used them to do historically great things.
When that happens, God gets all the glory. And that is exactly why He does so! You are not in a situation that God is going to let you sink in. No matter how it looks right now, no matter how it feels right now, you will not sink. God will give you everything you need to do His purpose.
God will qualify you as He calls you. Not the other way around. Thank God today that He chose YOU to do His special work! And trust that He will give you everything you need every step of the way.
